Summer is on its way, and with this time of year being busiest for airlines Easy Jet is no different.
Easy Jet was launched at Southend Airport seven years ago and this summer bosses expect the airline to carry over 830,000 passengers, a 20% increase on last year. These numbers mean that since its launch at Southend Easy Jet has carried 6 million passengers.
Southend Airport now boasts 21 Easy Jet routes and new routes including Prague, Bordeaux and Dubrovnik and Pula inCroatia have led to the increase in flights leaving Southend this summer.
Neil Slaven, Director of UK Market at EasyJet, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be celebrating a record year here at London Southend Airport.
“The addition of another aircraft and new routes this year is helping us to deliver long term, sustainable growth at the base providing passengers with an even greater range of convenient flights to a fantastic variety of destinations across our network – all low fares and great service.”
Southend Airport has been awarded the Which! best airport of the year award five times in a row. Additionally, with six trains an hour into London in just 45 minuets and less than a 6 minuet queue on average at check-in it is absolutely no surprise that more passengers are choosing to fly with Southend than ever before.
